New IPO Stocks Stay in Focus as NSE and Hero Motors See Post-Listing Moves

Newly listed stocks have remained active in the market as investors track their performance after debut. NSE shares came under pressure after giving up part of their listing-day gains, while Hero Motors also saw strong movement after a weak initial debut. The developments have brought attention to valuation, business strength and the risks that can come with newly listed stocks. NSE shares listed on the BSE on September 24 at ₹1,800, against an IPO price of ₹1,785. The stock initially gained during the first trading session but later came under selling pressure. On September 25, it fell to an intraday low of ₹1,790.10 before recovering some of the losses.
Shivani Nyati, Head of Wealth at Swastika Investmart, said the NSE listing reflected realistic market expectations. She highlighted the exchange's strong position in India's capital markets and its high market share in cash and equity futures segments. At the same time, she pointed to the company's dependence on trading volumes as an important factor for investors to monitor. Hero Motors has also attracted attention after its IPO listing. The stock debuted at ₹82 on the NSE against an issue price of ₹84 before seeing a strong recovery in the following sessions.
Nyati highlighted Hero Motors' powertrain business and the opportunity linked to electric vehicle growth. However, she also pointed to its valuation of around 69–74 times price-to-earnings, which was above the peer average mentioned in the coverage. The company's RoNW and EBITDA margin were also below key peers, while customer concentration remained another factor to watch. The contrasting movements in NSE and Hero Motors show how newly listed stocks can behave differently after their market debut. Listing gains do not necessarily remain steady, and factors such as valuation, earnings, business performance and trading volumes can influence the stock after listing.
